Pastel Overload!

my first attempts at painting jars
Okay, I haven't posted in ages because I honestly don't understand this website at all but I thought I would continue sharing some stuff anyway because I've broken up for the summer now!
Recently, I fell in love with Louise Pentland, aka Sprinkle Of Glitter and she made a blog post a while ago about a cute craft that you can do really easily at home.

Here is the blogpost that Louise published:
http://sprinkleofglitter.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/how-to-colour-glass-jars.html

It's quite an easy thing to do but I fell in love with the whole concept: you literally paint the INSIDE of glass jars with acrylic (in my case) paint and leave them to dry then VOILA!

As with many things, I got OBSESSED with this craft and have recently painted some different sized jars in more pastel colours because I can! Here are some more photos:
as you can see, i use these jars to store anything small really like nail varnish, earrings, bonjela (the limits are endless haha)

Have any of you tried this craft activity? How did you find it? Are you as obsessed as me?!

autographs!

Paloma Faith
I wanted to quickly show you some of the celebrity autographs I have received over time, but I also have some advice for any of you thinking of collecting any (I seriously recommend it, best nerd hobby ever).

I first started sending fan mails to my favourite celebrities (mainly comedians) in the summer of 2011 and got my first reply that November, from Harry Hill. It was just the best feeling to get a personal response from someone I idolise, I can't even explain how perfectly surreal it was!
Harry Hill

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer
Gabrielle Aplin (before she was famous ha)
Miranda Hart

All I can say is that I definitely recommend sending some fan mails out to your favourite people because I didn't expect half the amount of replies I have had over the past couple of years.
If you want to send an autograph request, make sure you send your letter with a stamped, self-addressed envelope and check you definitely have a reliable address for them (such as the address of their management or their personal P/O Box)

Also, if you want to know any of the addresses I used for those above, please comment below and I promise to get back to you!

WantWorthy!

I discovered this website through the beautiful Zoella as she recommended it for people to see a full list of her recent beauty purchases but I have decided to use it for anything in general that I fall in love with (but as usual, can't afford).

It is simple to set up: you just need to register and then download an extension that allows you to have a button on your internet toolbar that you can click whenever you find something you want to add to you list (the site explains it better!)
about.wantworthy.com
I love this website because it's so easy to use (but it makes me wish I had more money) so i just wanted to share this with anyone who is actually reading (ha) and I thought I should get some posts on here seeing as this blog is brand new!

Let me know if you find the website useful! I will leave links to the WantWorthy homepage as well as my WantWorthy list and Zoe's too.

2012 overview- music

Seeing as this is my first post, I thought I should cover something quite broad so here is my favourite music of 2012 (Yes I am fully aware that it is now April, but never mind).
So, here are a few of the people that stood out for me last year in no particular order:

Mumford & Sons: Sigh No More (weheartit.com)
This album was actually released in 2009 but I only really came across this magical band towards the end of last year. There isn't a single song on the album that I didn't fall in love with even slightly. The stars for me were Roll Away Your Stone, I Gave You All, Little Lion Man (if you haven't heard of this one then you must be living under a rock) and After The Storm. After The Storm is the last track on the album and I think it must be my overall favourite due to it being bloody beautiful in every way! It is quite a melancholy, down beat track but has an uplifting message: everything is going to be okay. You can just tell that these guys are talented musically and it's clear the band love producing decent music. It has a very folky vibe and I just find it to be a very sensitive and thought-provoking set of songs, although there are some punchier ones in there too! I also found the album artwork of Sigh No More to be very pretty as it is quite vintage looking (my favourite!). Overall, this is a gorgeous album and I know I'm a bit late in saying so but if you haven't already checked it out- please do!

Mumford & Sons: Babel (weheartit.com)
Okay so this one was ACTUALLY released in 2012 and is also from Mumford & Sons (as I'm hoping you know because this album is perfection). I listened to it non stop throughout the whole of winter and it had me both dancing and crying at different times. I found this to be more of a feel-good album compared to the first one, yet again with a beautiful slow track right at the end. My favourites of this album were I Will Wait, Ghosts That We Knew and Not With Haste but I think there were generally less stand-out tracks compared to the original album. However, this album is still one of my favourites and I'm definitely not the only one to love this band a great deal!

Paloma Faith: Fall To Grace (amazon.co.uk)
Paloma Faith is one of my favourite celebrities of all time so I was very excited when this beauty was finally released back in May. I was already in love with her original album, Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? which is also a work of art and I highly recommend it to you all. I always find  that Paloma carries herself which such elegance and innocence and this is really reflected in the album, especially in my personal favourites: Picking Up The Pieces (her first single from the album), Just Be and When You're Gone. She has said herself that she thinks this album is a lot more honest and that she was worried about how it would be received but I think she should be over the moon with this gorgeous set of tracks. I also absolutely adore the album artwork for this and I'm glad I bought a physical copy of the CD because it is stunning!

Amy MacDonald: A Curious Thing

I downloaded this album from Amy MacDonald after hearing the single from her oldest album, This Is The Life and I fell in love and listened to this solidly for a few weeks. It's such an upbeat album although I found it a little empty and predictable at times. My Only One, Your Time Will Come and What Happiness Means To Me were definitely my favourites and these happened to be the slower tracks and were very pretty pieces of music. This album made me cry quite a few times but could also put me in a better mood; I would recommend this to people who like dance-type pop music but it's more of a girly album!

Lauren Aquilina: Fools EP (weheartit.com)

In 2012, I discovered Lauren Aquilina and she was probably one of my favourite musical discoveries of the year! Lauren is a 17 year old singer-songwriter (aka sass queen) and as well as being a really lovely girl, she also has a beautiful voice. She released her first EP in September last year and it has stayed in the iTunes charts ever since. It has 4 songs and is just so pretty and elegant, I just wish she would release an album soon because she is perfect! She is currently recording her second EP which I am insanely excited for and has just finished her small set of concert tour dates across the UK. I love this girl and I think she'll make it really big soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

Keane: Strangeland (weheartit.com)

Keane's latest album, Strangeland, was released in May 2012 and was another of my favourites. I grew up listening to Keane through my parents and although I don't think they have ever quite lived up to their first album, Hopes And Fears, I still love everything they have released since. A few of my favourites were Disconnected, Watch How You Go, Sovereign Light CafĂ© and Sea Fog. Yet again, this album had me in tears but there were some lively ones as well such as their single from the album: Silenced By The Night. I will always be a huge fan of Keane and this album definitely livened up my summer.

Gabrielle Aplin: The Power Of Love (weheartit.com)

I discovered Gabrielle Aplin on YouTube a few years ago but seeing as she's famous now, I think I should definitely include her in this list. I have been listening to Gabrielle's music for ages now and I  still haven't tired of her! She gained a lot of fame in December when she covered The Power of Love by Frankie Goes To Hollywood and it was used on the John Lewis Christmas advert campaign. Her cover of the song has been described as 'haunting' and I definitely agree: it is beautiful! We are all patiently (desperately) waiting her first full album, English Rain which will be released in May (I've preordered a signed copy!). All songs by Gabrielle have proved to be beautiful and I recommend you check her out!

Seeing as music is such a big part of my life, I wanted to share a tiny bit of that with you and I hope you check some of these out if you haven't heard of them before!

Thanks for reading xxxxxx
